Apple may soon unveil an all-new MacBook Air: What to expect – Times of India

Apple’s first big event of the year — WWDC — is just over a month away. Traditionally, WWDC has been a software event but Apple is known to spring a surprise or two and unveil hardware as well. Rumours about WWDC 2023 are in full swing. While software-related leaks are aplenty, there have been some about products as well. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has quite a good track record when it comes to Apple-related leaks. Now, Gurman has suggested that a new MacBook Air could arrive at WWDC.
15-inch MacBook Air expected
Gurman has a weekly newsletter in which he said that a 15-inch MacBook is a real possibility at the event. “As part of watchOS 10, the company is planning to bring back widgets and make them a central part of the interface. This new strategy will debut at WWDC in June, alongside the unveiling of iOS 17, macOS 14, the 15-inch MacBook Air, and, of course, the much-anticipated mixed-reality headset.”
The software announcements at WWDC are always par for the course but it’s the mention of the MacBook Air that gives some food for thought. For starters, if Apple does launch the 15-inch MacBook then it will be quite a big change from the usual 13-inch models it has in its lineup.
The upcoming 15-inch MacBook Air will ideally sit between the 13-inch Air and the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Apple also has a 14-inch MacBook Pro in its lineup.
Don’t expect any other major design changes to the MacBook Air, except the change in the display size. Last year at WWDC, Apple unveiled the M2-powered MacBook Air. The 15-inch rumoured variant is also expected to come with the same processor.
Apple’s other big hardware launch could be the mixed-reality headset that has been dominating the rumour cycle for a while now. WWDC starts on June 5 and will run till June 9.
