Abhijeet Bhattacharya calls his work experience with AR Rahman unmusical

In a recent interaction with Lehren Retro, Abhijeet Bhattacharya spoke about his experience of working with AR Rahman. He recalled the latter had called him for recording a particular song for the film, Rangeela. Abhijeet mentioned that Udit Narayan had already sung that song in advance, and AR Rahman told him that his voice would be used differently. However, soon Abhijeet realised that Rahman had no method of working, and was doing everything in patches, as the former had to wait for long hours in the hotel lobbies with no work getting done. He mentioned:

“They called me saying the song has been changed, and since Udit has already sung for the character, your vocals will be used in a different way. I realised that this is not a place for music. He was just recording patches. There was no method to the work.”

When Abhijeet gave a sassy remark on the younger generation of playback singers

In one of his earlier interviews with Spotboye, Abhijeet Bhattacharya was asked about his views on the new generation of playback singers, who can be seen making their way to the top of the ladder. To this, he took a dig at the tendency of new-age singers to have a nasal voice, and mentioned:

“Everyone is doing nasal singing. They are so bad! A dog can be a better singer than today’s singers and I can prove it. After recording a voice on mike, I can change it to anything on auto-tuner and one will never know that it was done through auto-tuner.”
